Chloe Catto | Holding Space Residency

ABOUT CHLOE

Chloe Catto is an emerging artist based in Nipaluna/Hobart. Her multidisciplinary practice examines how objects and materials—both physical and ideological—form and interconnect within systems of value that define our relationship to material culture and progress. Working with industrial artifacts, she explores themes of precarity and entropy to expose the autonomy of ‘debased’ matter within networks of reciprocal modification.

During the Holding Space residency, Chloe will continue to expand her sculptural practice by deepening her engagement with experimental materials and processes - meshing abject, slippery, and sensuous surface textures with hard metals to create forms that are quasi-architectural and bodily.

HOLDING SPACE is a project space and residency program delivered by Constance ARI in collaboration with the UTAS School of Creative Arts & Media (CAM).

Constance ARI works across Country cared for by the Palawa of lutruwita and the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout the so called ‘Australia’, as well as First Nations people from elsewhere, and their deep connection to the lands, skies and waterways over which sovereignty was never ceded.  We pay our respect to all Elders; we are grateful for their continued sharing of knowledge and Culture.
