Holding Space 2024

Constance ARI has taken over the old Entrepot art supply store, to present HOLDING SPACE; a project space and residency program delivered in collaboration with the UTAS School of Creative Arts & Media (CAM).

Constance is excited to announce the residents participating in the 2024:

RESIDENCY #1  |  5 August - 27 September
GRAHAM PRICHARD
Details on Graham’s residency and related events can be found here.

RESIDENCY #2  |  7 October - 29 November
LUCY EDGINGTON

HOLDING SPACE provides an opportunity for artists working in and across spatial practices to research, experiment and make, in a public-facing space. Artists have unique access to workshops, research libraries and technical support within the Hunter St Centre for the Arts, as well as support and event facilitation from constance ARI board members.

This project seeks to support and encourage:
  • Critically engaged practice
  • Process without fully predetermined outcomes
  • Radical shifts and enfoldings in practice
  • Experimental and emerging processes and media
  • New and interdisciplinary collaborations

Watch this space for further announcements for HOLDING SPACE 2025!

Constance ARI works across Country cared for by the Palawa of lutruwita and the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout the so called ‘Australia’, as well as First Nations people from elsewhere, and their deep connection to the lands, skies and waterways over which sovereignty was never ceded.  We pay our respect to all Elders; we are grateful for their continued sharing of knowledge and Culture.
