Perennial Residency | Yumemi Hiraki
Join us at Art Farm Birch’s Bay for a gathering to celebrate the culmination of Yumemi Hiraki's three-month artist residency as part of a Constance x Art Farm collaboration. Her excitement in the garden and harvesting, daily interactions and conversations with community members, exploration of the site and the natural clay making process intertwine to form her playful, edible installation. Come for the experimental hot pot and somen noodle slide, stay for a curated walk of the Art Farm sculpture trail. Yumemi invites you for a Sunday arvo at the farm to eat, chat and celebrate the site and its community (both people and plants) together.

Art Farm Birchs Bay is approximately 35 minutes south of nipaluna (Hobart), access is by car. Public Buses on a Sunday stop in Woodbridge. We recommend you carpool to this event, or please contact the host if you’d like to get a lift with one of the event organisers. Accessibility:
Yumemi’s open studio and performance is wheelchair accessible, there will be seats available for those who need them.The Sculpture Trail is 2 km and suitable for most ages and abilities. The trail passes through pear orchards, up winding bush trails, across open fields with views of Bruny Island and the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and down into picturesque orchards and a large vegetable garden.
The trail is undulating, moderately steep for the first half of the trail. Some artistic benches are provided along the walk for visitors to take a well-earned rest and enjoy the view. Unfortunately the full trail is not suitable for wheelchairs and is challenging with prams.
Dogs on leads are welcome, no public bins provided so please take all waste including dog bags with you.
Perennial Residency has been developed by Art Farm Birchs Bay in response to the needs of artists, their community, and their venue, who need year-round public opportunities to make, share, and experience art together. Constance ARI is pleased to fund one of the residencies in their on going program through our organisational Arts Tasmania funding.
