A Place to Tremble employs recollections or descriptions of experiences of transcendence, the sublime and/or ecstasy as the subject matter. Text and sound from personal interviews, quotes, borrowed texts and personal writing will form the basis of this interactive installation. The gallery will be darkened to accommodate slide and data projections of overlapping, layered and backwards text. The text on the data projector will 'tremble' as the audience enters and moves through the space, while a deep, low sound-scape containing mantra-like vocal ambience and the occasional spoken work snippet will fill the darkness.
