I Can't Hear

ICantHear

I can’t hear explores cross-cultural connections through children’s nursery rhymes and games. The games sung are variations of child and adult finger-play games sung in Lithuanian, Russian, Malagasi, Indian, Croatian and more. The English equivalent of some of the games is “This little Piggy went to market…”.

I can’t hear is a continuation of Bacic’s explorations of the migrant experience and language but a first as an audio-spatial experience. I can’t hear is a new work and combines her continuing investigations of camera obscura (dark room) and her ongoing explorations of participatory works which attempt to challenge participant’s perception of image, sound and physical space. I can’t hear is in a small space for people to explore one at a time, in the semi-darkness left only with themselves and the surrounding sounds.
