Inter Grey

please touch cursive in grey and beige

An installation by Melbourne artists Paula McLoughlin and Jen Cabraja.

In Inter Grey the relationship between artwork, exhibition space and viewer are reconfigured in order to examine their influence on the gallery experience.

Paula McLoughlin coats support structures with touch sensitive emulsion to redistribute the role of the art object between the viewer and the space. The visible marks that make evident the physical meeting of the viewer on the space help remove the remaining boundaries.

Jen Cabraja's placement of viewing matter beyond the walls of the gallery confuses and encourages the reconsideration of the functionality of the art object, the exhibition space and the viewer. The use of graphics representing the human anatomy multiplies the viewer , which assists in destabilizing and reallocating the expected relationships and roles between art object, gallery space and audience participation.

Paula McLoughlin has completed a Masters of Visual Arts, Sydney College of the Arts and received a Postgraduate degree in Fine Art, Edinburgh College of Art Scotland. McLoughlin has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Australia and overseas.

Jan Cabraja has studied at Sydney College of Arts and received a Bachelor of Visual arts with Honours. Most recently Cabraja has participated in shows like Corpunel , First Draft Sydney and Clearway at Conical Melbourne.
