Out of Home

02 Out of Home

Out of Home investigates the significance of place. Through connections with and dislocation from home, this exhibition explores suburban habitat. Domestic familiarity can entice our curiosity for detail. The discoveries we find can then create intrigue or disquiet, and the voyeur within becomes the participant. The edited cultural signs offered though the work are both compressed and illuminated -- or are expanded – within the shadows of suburbia.

Shea Bresnehan is a visual artist who graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2006 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photography) and in 2007 from RMIT with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours). Shea’s most recent work, large-scale photographic prints, explore our desire for the sanctuary of home. Her work has been exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions in Hobart and Melbourne.

Nicole Robson recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) and is a post-graduate student at the Tasmanian School of Art. Working primarily in photography and painting, Nicole’s work currently explores the public and private aspects of domestic life and has recently exhibited in Hatched, the national graduate show at the Perth Institute for Contemporary Arts.
