ReVision

Henskens01

ReVision takes a playful attitude towards a worldview taken from fragments of local scenery, “zoomed up”. The canvases and video are an interpretation of seeing and depicting landscape.

Light and particles bombarding the brain define shape, edge, motion and direction through the visual cortex. Light is part of a vast field of electro-magnetic energy that surrounds us, and the human eye has receptors in the retina that is sensitive to a very narrow band of this energy. We miss a lot of what is out there, and form our ideas of the world from systems that have evolved for survival. These exist for our species only. They are not an objective appraisal of what exists, therefore you could suggest that reality is all in the mind.

Ada Henskens is currently finishing a Ph.D in Visual Arts, working across media to investigate reality. She references science and technology to question what we assume is ‘out there’ and how we view the world. She has lived in three countries, studied French, is a qualified Obstetric nurse and Private Secretary, but started life as an art student in the U.K before setting off to see the world. Ada has exhibited in Hobart, Melbourne, and New Zealand.
