UNTITLED (PHOTOGRAPHING II)

Williams’ practice regards moments, the ‘wasting’ and ‘reclaiming’ of time (free time). She is most concerned with the ‘lived' and her work is influenced by her love of and resistance to forms of painting, fiction, cinema and music. Williams works across mediums, researching/photographing/filming/painting/drawing/reconfiguring elements of photography. Her component-works here typically evolve from photography, are 'of' photographs and, like a photographic document, are always linked to the absent referent. The processes of capturing, loss, re-claiming, re-acting, and reconfiguring also follow through into the installation of cross-coded clusters of works that are chosen at the time and place of the exhibition. Untitled (Photographing II) continues and extends this practice with a new configuration of work in the space at Inflight ARI.

Williams was born and currently works in Melbourne.  She completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) at Monash University in 2006.  Her recent solo exhibitions include: Photographing, Trocadero Art Space, Melb, 2010; Photograph Videos and Photographs (Polaroid Project 2008-09), Kings ARI, Melb, 2009; Photograph Videos, Seventh Gallery, Melb, 2009.  Group exhibitions: Kings x Kings, Kings ARI, Melb, 2010; Silent Nights: Film Screenings, Light Projects, 2010, Melb; Kings’ Studio Show, Kings ARI, Melb, 2009; Fatal Attraction, Shifted, Melb, 2008; We’ve Got A Love Like Electric Sound, Seventh Gallery, Melb, 2008.  Fiona is currently a Kings ARI studio artist.
