WERD

James Dodd uses images and logos from popular, sub and outlaw culture to construct his artwork. Rock' n ' roll, commercially and individually applied street cultures, and their modes are all constants in Dodd's practice: socio-political comments and innate party observations come together in densely presented groups of work that offer critical analysis of the lower strata of Australian culture and culminate in a mix of installation, sculpture, and paintings.
Werd - a statement within itself of agreement and power.
"Remember this?" Jonny said, pointing to a picture. Timmy says, "werd."
"That was a crazy time, huh? I'll bet we could do that again." Timmy says, "werd."
WERD is an accentuated accumulation of social opinions, selectively recorded and reinterpreted.
James Dodd studied completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) at the University of South Australia in 2001. In 2003 James was selected to exhibit as part of Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
