WORKING TITLE
That should work for now.
Yes. That will do I think.
This might work.
Yeah. That ought to do it.
Think this will work? Yep.
This works for me.
Oscar Capezio installation presents a video-loop of documented actions that he performed in the aisles of a Home Improvement megastore, along with furniture made of objects pulled directly from the shelves.
Oscar Capezio considers himself a hard worker. His work is not reconcilable with any single image or fixed medium. But instead traces about the dilemmas of being an artist in the world, performing the curatorial, and playing the viewer. Utilising modest materials and photographic technologies, he builds installations of found and fabricated objects, documented actions and staged images, to play out processes of making and encountering art. Like an organism, his work requires context to thrive.
Having never trained as an artist, Oscar began to act out the role in 2012, standing apart in a number of group exhibitions locally and interstate, while continuing to orchestrate collaborative projects for art festivals in his native Capital Territory. He staged his first solo exhibition THE SIGNAL IS THE MESSAGE in 2013 at Canberra Contemporary Art Space, and in 2014 received the M16 Art Space Emerging Exhibition prize. This October Oscar will present the exhibition WORKING TITLE simultaneously in both Canberra and Hobart.
